Indications
  • As an alternative or when switching from parenteral use In severe Candidiasis,Cryptococcosis Meningitis,Chromoblastomycosis.
  • In combination with other antifungal agents such as amphotericin B to avoid resistant mutations.
  • Contraindications
    • Flucytosine is not recommended for use in patients allergic to the medicine.
    • Not recommended for use in pregnant women and breastfeeding in children and adolescents.
Common Side Effects
  • Abdominal pain,nausea, vomiting,diarrhea, leukopenia and/or thrombocy­ topenia.
Mechanism of Action
  • Flucytosine works by inhibiting the synthesis of both DNA and RNA in the fungal cell which results in its unbalanced growth and eventually death thus treating the infection in affected individuals.
Dosage Information
  • Take Flucytosine medicine 4 times a day at an interval of every 6 hrs by mouth,or as directed by your physician.Swallow the medicine with a glass of water and avoid crushing or chewing the medicine.
